Fires involving the combustion of halogenated materials can be devastating. Inhalation of dangerous fumes can cause serious harm or even death to humans, and “acid rain" and acid fumes quickly destroy expensive industrial and computer equipment. Cables containing halogens also produce significantly higher levels of carbon monoxide (CO) gas during combustion. Emission levels of this dangerous gas are reduced in Non-halogenated cable constructions.
